Was out at the Burren Birds of Prey Centre in Ballyvaughan, Co. Clare the other weekend and took some bird 'portraits' - here's a few from the series, showcasing a Red Kite.
If you've not been there before, do check them out as part of a great day out in the Burren. In addition to entertaining visitors with their daily birds of prey shows, the folks there do some amazing work in education and aiding in raptor conservation efforts.
A selection of images from the final held on Nov. 18 at Pearse Stadium, Galway.

Omey island is a tidal island located near Clifden on the western edge of Connemara. At low tide, it is possible to drive or walk across the large sandy strand to the island. At high tide, you and your car would be under water!
On one day each year, a temporary town of sorts pops up on the strand as soon as the tide's gone out enough to venture out onto the sand. There's then a rush of activity to get the strand ready for hosting the Omey Races. The races need to conclude, and everything packed up again before the tide comes in again. Truly a one of a kind event!
